"Cyber Suicide"

I read this article recently in the Herald Sun on Britain's first recorded 'Cyber Suicide'! This makes me wonder: How could this have gone so far? Do people really take 'chat rooms' seriously? Or take more risks?

Yeah I read this on the weekend - (can't remember where) however, who enters a chat room that is about dishing out insults to each other - the reason you go there is to be abused?!?!
I understand a cry for help however there are better places to go to chat to people - and how discreet is it when you have a webcam? You may as well jump off your local bridge - the same amount of people will see and recognise you. chat rooms have gone to far - society has gone to far. just because there are no restrictions as such (on the net) have some morals

The world is full of terrible and amazing things. Does the web amplify, provoke or encourage? The web is largely uncontrolled or unconstrained in terms of geography, laws, religion, culture and commerce. Is this good or bad? Are we moving into a new social order? Is civilisation, as we know it, about to end???
